Cookie policy

This page is the whole truth about what this site stores on your device. It is short because there is not much: one measurement tool, loaded only if you say yes, and a note of your answer so we do not ask again.
Nothing loads before you answer
On your first visit a banner asks whether we may use measurement cookies. Until you press one of the two buttons, no analytics script is loaded, no analytics cookie is written and no session is recorded. Pressing Necessary only loads nothing at all, ever, on this browser. That is not a courtesy setting, it is how the page is built: the script that loads the tool runs only after an explicit accept.
What we store either way
Two items of browser storage are needed for the banner itself to work. They are not cookies, they are never sent to a server, and they hold no identifier.
| Name | Where | What it holds | How long |
|---|---|---|---|
hy_consent | localStorage | Your answer to the banner, so it is not shown again | Until you clear your browser storage |
hy_pending | sessionStorage | Clicks recorded before you answered, replayed only if you then accept and discarded if you decline | Until the tab is closed |
What we load if you accept
Microsoft Clarity (project ym8ps42g5n), an analytics tool from Microsoft. It records how pages are used, for example scrolling, clicks and the path through the page, and aggregates that into heatmaps and session replays. We use it to see whether the people arriving here are the ones we can help and where the page loses them. We do not use it for advertising and we run no advertising tags on this site today.
Your message is masked. The contact form is marked so that what you type into it is never captured in a recording. We see that a field was filled in, not what it says.
Clarity sets the following cookies. Microsoft may change this list; the current one is in Microsoft's own documentation for Clarity.
| Cookie | Set by | Purpose | How long |
|---|---|---|---|
_clck | this site | Keeps one Clarity identifier for the browser, so repeat visits are counted as one person | 1 year |
_clsk | this site | Joins the page views of a single visit into one recording | 1 day |
CLID | clarity.ms | Identifies the first time this browser was seen by Clarity | 1 year |
MUID | Microsoft | Microsoft's own identifier for the browser, used across Microsoft sites for analytics | 13 months |
ANONCHK | Microsoft | Records whether the identifier is used for advertising, which on this site it is not | 10 minutes |
MR | Microsoft | Indicates whether to refresh the identifier | 7 days |
SM | Microsoft | Synchronises the identifier across Microsoft domains | End of session |
Accepting therefore means data reaches Microsoft as a processor, which may involve a transfer outside the European Economic Area under the safeguards Microsoft publishes for that service. If that is not acceptable to you, press Necessary only; nothing on this site stops working.
Changing your mind
Your answer is not final. Open the banner again and choose differently: Cookie settings. Declining after having accepted stops anything further from loading on the next page view; to remove what is already stored, clear the cookies for this site in your browser, which you can do for any site at any time from the browser's own privacy settings.
